Recently, I watched a video on the Coconut man of El Salvador, Lorenzo who receive the surprise of his life. (Source: https://fb.watch/efeo4x-SyA/ ) His testimony really hammers home the message of what it really meant to trust in our Lord Jesus for providence.

After watching the video, I asked myself whether I have such faith and contentment as his. I must admit that I felt ashamed after some soul searching. In comparison with Lorenzo, in terms of standards of living, I would be living a “life of luxury”. Even as I live comfortably, I often worry and felt dissatisfied with what l have been blessed with. Every now and then, I would think, “Life will be much better if I have more!”

More love, more joy, more peace, more blessings, more freedom, more(better) health, more friends, more happiness, more time, more money, more talents, more, more, more……

When will it be enough? If I gain all these, but not Jesus, will I be truly satisfied? On the contrary, if I only have Jesus and nothing else, will I still be happy?

All of us have basic needs for love, significance and security. We scurry around day in day out, going and doing, but mostly ending up where we all started – unsatisfied.

God created us with an emptiness in our lives that only He can fill. We can only be truly satisfied through Him and in Christ.

Jesus said: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26, ESV)

Only God can fulfil all our needs. Those who know God testify of His all-sufficiency.

Philippians 4:19 says, “My God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

This verse is a promise that God will never forsake those who seek Him. He will provide for our financial, physical, and spiritual needs.

In order to be truly satisfied and contented in life, we need to believe and trust Him more.

Jesus said: “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26, ESV)

God is our all-powerful, all-compassionate, all-wise and all-loving heavenly Father. He loves us so much that He sacrificed His son Jesus Christ for our salvation. That, in itself, is the greatest gift ever and all that we truly need.
